The Cup Is Half Full

For quite some time it seems that I have had a string of bad luck. From health problems to financial worry it just seems to snowball.

I am not alone. You also may be dealing with the same scenarios. The question is, is the cup half full or half empty? I choose to try to be positive. The cup is half full.

So I have MS, it could be worse. We have men and women around the globe that lose limbs while fighting for our freedom. I thank them for their dedication, service and sacrifice. God speed.

I have a truck that has had a few problems. It could be worse. At least I have a vehicle. When the truck has a "problem" thankfully it hasn't been too expensive to fix. Furthermore, our engineer at the radio station gave me the vehicle in early December for nothing and he has helped me fix the minor problems it has had. It can always be worse. Kevin Larke is "good people". Thanks brother.

I also am thankful that I have a job and health insurance. There are a lot of people in Mid Michigan that don't and for them I will pray that they have the strength to pull thru these hard times.

It can always be worse. Just remember that. I remind myslef everyday.

I've Got Something To Tell You...

Thanks so much for being a part of my radio career in Lansing for the past twelve years.

I'm thankful everyday for being able to rock with you and I lo0k forward to doing so for many years to come.

At 4:15 this afternoon I made public that I am battling Mutliple Sclerosis. I was diagnosed in December after approximately six weeks of testing etc...

MS is a disease that affects your Central Nervous System. There is no cure, but it is very manageable. I am currently undergoing daily injection treatments to hopefully slow the progress of the disease.

Until I was faced with the potential threat of an MS diagnosis, I had no idea what the disease actually was...sure I'd heard of MS, but had no idea what it was. I learned, and am learning as much as I can.

The reason I have decided to share this information is because I was blown away at what my co-workers, family and friends learned about the disease. When I made my transition back to work, all of my co-workers learned something about MS. Instead of asking me questions, my co-workers offered tidbits of information about MS that I found informative. AWARENESS was evident to me from all angles.

I have gone public to create awareness on a much larger stage...with your help this will happen.

I look forward to hearing from those that are battling MS themselves...and those that have a keen interest in this disease. Please email me at mojo@q106fm.com.

Thanks for taking time to read this. I have listed a link to the MS Society and also a copy of the press release from this afternoon's announcement.

Press Release:

Lansing Rock Jock “Mojo” To Join The Battle Against Multiple Sclerosis
“I Have MS”

Lansing, MI – March 10, 2009 – The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Michigan
Chapter, has found a new ally in the war against MS. Lansing market radio host, Mojo has been involved with many charity promotions and fundraisers during his 12-year career. The Q106 Imaging Director and afternoon drivetime personality has always been willing to give of his time for a good cause.
Now, recently diagnosed with MS, Mojo has a cause of his own. Rather than sit back and contemplate the future, Mojo is confronting the disease on the air, utilizing his platform to bring awareness to the public. He will be working with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Michigan Chapter on various projects this year.
“I’m going public with this at 4:15 this afternoon,” Mojo says. “I am anxious to do all I can to create awareness about multiple sclerosis. Lots of people have heard of MS, but few are familiar with its effects and I look forward to helping educate them,” he continued.
“Obviously no one wants to find out they have MS, but the good that can come from
Mojo’s decision to share his story will help us fight this very unpredictable disease,”
comments Elana Sullivan, President of the National MS Society’s Michigan Chapter.
MS stops people from moving. The National MS Society exists to make sure it doesn’t. We help each person address the challenges of living with MS. In 2007 alone, through our home office and 50 state network of chapters, we devoted over $136 million to programs that enhanced more than one million lives. To move us closer to a world free of MS, the Society also invested over $50 million to support 440 research projects around the world. We are people who want to do something about MS NOW. Join the movement at www.nationalmssociety.org:mig.
