Q106 Comedy Series Was A Blast!

Wow...what a fun show last night at the Causeway Bay Hotel featuring Mike Armstrong and Dan St. Paul, regular guests on the Bob and Tom Show!

Dan's standup comedy was hillarious and after hearing "Harry Carey" many times it was a lot of fun to just hear his well thought out "stand up".

Mike Armstrong was also a riot. His quick wit and funny jokes about spontaneous thoughts had people laughing his whole set.

With the arrival of fall we look forward to bringing you more shows with the Q106 Comedy Series. Up next the Irish Comedy Tour on Friday, November 13th...stay tuned for details. Have a good weekend!

A Few Things!

So Michael Vick signed a one year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. As we are all aware, he got into some serious trouble and did time in the "big house" for his dog fighting ring. I am a huge animal supporter and have a few pets of my own. What he did was wrong. I guess the question is "does he deserve a second chance"? I beleive in second chances, but on the flip side, those dog's didn't have a second chance. It's something to think about. I think the NFL fans will let him hear about it when the Eagles are on the road this year.

I would like to also add my two cents worth in regards to the band "Sponge". We are giving away tickets this week on Q106, if you don't win them then make sure you buy them. Hog's Palace is the venue and it's located in Jackson on Falahee Rd. Sponge is one of the best live rock acts I have ever seen and with kick ass rock show's few and far between this is one worth checkin out. I promise.

I will check in again soon.

Anticipation...GO CUBS!

Last night the Cubs and Tigers battled at Comerica Park in game one of a three game series. Unfortunately the Cubs were on the losing end...losing 5-4 thanks to a walk off Tiger homerun.

I am a Die Hard Cubs fan...always have been and always will be.

Tonight is game two. Can the Cubs even the series?

Tomorrow is a 1:05 game at Comerica park. The final game in this three game set. I will be in attendance and anticipate a showdown in Detroit.

I have been to Wrigley Field dozens of times and wish that I was going to another game there but I am excited either way. Comerica Park is one of the most fan friendly ball parks that I have been to. It should be a great time....you bet I am hoping for a "W".

In years past when I went to games at Wrigley Field there was a certain "buzz" or "vibe" surrounding the ballpark when I would get off the "L" and make my way to the game. The "vibe" was amplified as soon as I stepped foot into Wrigley Field. Those memories I will never forget. I have been to Comerica Park in 2001 when the Cubs played the Tigers in interleague play. Although the "buzz" was different walking into Comerica Park than Wrigley Field, there is no question that there is an awesome "vibe" at Comerica Park as well.

I love the memories of Wrigley Field and look forward to creating new ones tomorrow at Comerica Park.

GO CUBS!

Yard Sales...

This weekend I had a yard sale with my girlfriend at our house. It went very well and I am happy to say that we made enough $$ to cover parking and "beverages" at the Tigers vs. Cubs game this Thursday at Comerica Park.

It's funny how one person in a relationship wants to sell everything for as much as they can get, even risking the loss of a sale due to not budging on a price.

Day one, my girlfriend was in charge as I did the chores that I needed to at my house. We did pretty good.

Day two, I was in charge. My better half had to do the Father's Day deal with her family so I was flying solo. Not only did I make us some cash, but I also got rid of a TON of stufff that otherwise I would have had to pack up. I made us $$ but I also lessened the workload.

When doing these "sales", don't be stubborn. Let things go for what people are willing to pay. If you don't then you are creating more work for yourself and not making any money. There's no fun in that.

Weather Stuff!

When I was a teenager I am sure that I gave the finger a few times when I was driving. Sure, I was young and thought I knew everything. C'mon, when you were a teenager you were probably the same.

Now that I am 35 I consider myself a courteous driver. In fact there might be a chance that I have let you in to traffic when others have not. Pay it forward right?

With the severe weather today I was reminded of a situation a few weeks back when we had severe rainfall.

I commute along Pennsylvania which has some notorious spots that flood when we get such terrential rain. As traffic approached a "notorious spot" on Penn, everyone was in the left lane because the right lane was flooding. There were cars that had stalled in the right lane, but that didn't stop one "braniac" from trying to pass traffic regardless. In the end, he stalled after his reckless driving. I can only imagine that he is the same jack ass that spins out during the winter months because he was in a hurry and didn't use common sense when it comes to driving in these conditions.

It's as if some people think that their time is so much more valuable then anyone else's. My friend, you are no more important then anyone else. Slow down so you don't kill someone or yourself.

Really?

I have a tendency to keep an eye on things that are happening in the news. At any given time while I am at work there is a pretty good chance that I have a TV near me that is tuned in to CNN.

Earlier this week an Air France jet enroute to Paris from Rio disappeared from radar. I can't fathom the grief that family members and friends of the missing are feeling right now. My thoughts and prayers are with them and the victims.

You may be wondering what motivated me to right this. Well, here's the story.

Today CNN is making a big deal about "new details" in the disappearance of this plane. We know by now that the plane disappeared off of radar. It might have been struck by ligtning, but without the "black boxes" yet recovered theories are pure speculation.

CNN is on the mark in it's reporting. Today they revealed that the plane "either broke apart in mid air or when it hit the water". Really?

I think that CNN does a good job for the most part with news, they must be doing something right since they have been around for decades...but reporting the obvious seems senseless.

What's next..."tonight it will be dark in Mid Michigan?".

Thank The Troops!

I am a firm believer that freedom isn't free.

This Saturday (May 16th) is Armed Forces Day. Take a moment to thank a service man or woman or veteran for their service.

There will be a Thank The Troops party in Grand Ledge at Fitzgerald Park from noon until 6. Stop by to do exactly that, thank the troops. There will be plenty of military personnel on hand plus the reading of the 2008 fallen soldiers followed by the playing of Taps.

Thanks to all service men and women for their hard work and dedication to keeping America free!
